WTOW LTD Community Company, functions as a stand alone not for profit limited company with assets being operated for the benefit of the Place and People of the Upper Rhondda. WTOW LTD is working with the wider Welcome to our Woods Partnership, to deliver a greater social impact in the Upper Rhondda and together explore opportunities around the wood supply chain and none timber related forest products and other ecosystem services.

Mr Calum Macintosh
With many year experience of managing conservation / environmental projects and land based activities. Calum also brings to the team his experience working in the pubic and third sectors, and his exceptional eye for detail. Calum is the programme coordinator for our CYS Big Lottery programme.
Mr Ian Thomas
Our partnerships Community Voice project officer from 2013-2016, now a working director, he is WTOW LTD forest manager and is the Place and Business Development officer for our CYS Big Lottery Program. For some years Ian has been an active board member of the Welsh Gov core funded organisation Llys y Goedwig (Voice of the Woodland in Wales).
Mr Ceri Nicolas
Woodland, green spaces and landscape management and operations, Ceri has managed local community woodland spaces in the Upper Rhondda under NRW agreements, for more than ten years. Employed by CYS partners Valleys Kids for last 15 years, Ceri is now on secondment/contracted to the CYS Big Lottery program. Ceri is a fluent Welsh speaker and leads on our Welsh language programs and initiatives.
Mrs Karen Davies
Karen has ten years experience with a national lending institution and ten years’ experience working in small businesses. Her academic attainment includes masters degrees in both geography and economic development. She is passionate about people and local communities. Karen set up and now runs Purple Shoots Business Lending (“Purple Shoots”) a not-for-profit micro-finance organisation, set up to tackle unemployment and economic problems in the areas where it operates.
Mrs Simone Devinett
A Community Engagement team-leader at our Rhondda Housing Association RSL. Simone’s passion for community development drives positive change in both RHA and WTOW LTD. Simone performs the role of Chair for our Welcome to our Woods Partnership and today lectures on Community Development subjects at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Mr Phill Vickary
An experienced, now retired social worker and social work manager, and former owner of a Welsh cuisine restaurant in London. Today Phill is a minister at Blaencwm Chapel Tynewydd and leads on our Taste of the Rhondda food project and the Pay-As-You-Feel cafe project located at that venue.

Mr Martyn Broughton
Martyn and his company ‘Active Nutrition’ have been heavily involved with Welcome to our Woods partnership since 2012 and has provided health and wellbeing activities based in local outdoor spaces to thousands of local people and visitors over that time. Martyn runs ‘Active Nutrition’ and provides programme management and delivery for health & wellbeing and local people involvement our CYS Big Lottery programme. Martyn leads on developing a social prescribing venture for CYS and works closely with our local health professionals and GP surgery cluster.
Mr Richard Barrett BSc Metallurgy, Accredited Quality Systems Auditor.
Richard was responsible for the exterior cladding we see today on the Canary Wharf Tower and the European Court of Human Rights buildings. After 40 years in the steel manufacturing and copper refining industries he was able to follow a lifelong interest in the environment and plant growing systems. Richard today is employed by Keep Wales Tidy and delivers training support and site development advice for our CYS Big Lottery Program.
